Built by Hand, Made with Heart.
I come from a long line of crafts folk. My Great grandfather was a cabinet maker at the Steinway factory in Astoria, Queens, NY in the early 1900s. My dad started me early with a tiny wood working bench next to his in our cellar. My brother is a luthier and shipwright.
As with anything handmade and worth passing down to the next generation, the hand is guided by the heart. We think of glue and joinery when discussing what keeps wood together (animal hide glue was found in King Tut's tomb keeping his throne and couches completely intact and doing what it was intended three thousand years later). But what really keeps something together is the heart that was put into its making. Very much like the music created and performed on a guitar, the hands do the bidding of the heart, and so it is with guitar making.
